Experiencing some new experiences...

Well starting last Friday we have been house-sitting Mitchells parents house. Let me tell you, i have learned ALOT about living in a house out in the country!

-First off we are watching & tending to their chickens. I am definitely a suburb kinda girl because this is not coming naturally to me at all! I have learned that you can NOT talk to Chickens like you can talk to a cat or dog....they don't understand you AT ALL. Sooo starting day one i tried to actually "talk" like a chicken, i got the advice from Dory (When she speaks whale on finding Nemo). It has not been successful, imagine that. After looking dumb for a few days i've learned that you can just shew them and they will kinda go the direction you want them to. Its an interesting task because its like having Easter every morning and night...i go into the chickens pin and its like all of a sudden i am on an Easter egg hunt as i search for all of the eggs.Although,  let me tell you its not as easy as plastic eggs. Some of the chickens like to just sit there all day...so therefore you have to stick your hand under them and grab the egg out....which is both scary and disgusting because the eggs are so warm. & Lastly let me just say...after tending to chickens you CANT wash you hands enough...in fact the only thing that makes you feel clean again is to take a shower!

- We were told to make sure and close the garage at night with the cat inside it so that Raccoons don't come in and eat the cat food.....of course we learned the hard way as we tend to always do and as i walked by the door leading to the garage i heard a big crash....i instantly realized we had not closed the garage door. Mitchell ran out there as he saw a raccoon run out of the garage. This sparked some anger in Mitchell...thus he waited in the garage for a good 45 minutes for the animal to come back so he could beat the crap out of it with a broom...lol. That's my boy!

- I also learned that 2 people do not ever need to live in a 7 bedroom home.....This house is just too big for the both of us. We haven't even been in any of the rooms except ours which makes them useless if we actually lived here. I now understand why older people move into smaller homes...less to clean...less places for monsters to hide and it is just simply realistic!

- The BEST part about being here was definitely yesterday. Mitchell and i got in a bit of an argument...but then as we made up it started pouring outside...so we ventured that way! It was super fun to walk up and down the country roads in the pouring rain and having the few cars that passed us wave to us even though they were probably so confused seeing a pregnant lady in a skirt and shirt & a boy in regular clothes casually walking on the road in the storm. But it was fun & gave Mitchell and i a new experience together.

I am sure there will be more to come!

The Fourth Of July & Omaha

This past weekend we spent with lots of different people!

We got to spend the 4th of July at Mitchells parents house with his family and other friends and family as well. It was a blast swimming and eating amazing food with everyone!

....Usually I am a huge pyro when it comes to fireworks and such. This year unfortunately as I tried to bend down and light a tank for a tank war I was stopped by a big beach ball in my way.... It was a sad realization that I would not be able to light fireworks...although it made sense considering I cant even tie my shoes. :/

We woke up early Friday morning and headed out to Omaha to spend some time with my Aunt/Uncle and Cousins. It was a special trip for me to be able to show Mitchell Omaha because that is where I remember spending a majority of my summers growing up. We had a blast! Went to the Farmers Market in Downtown Omaha, we went to bug Kersten as she worked at Peachwave. We also went and saw World War Z...which I would totally recommend! Anyway we did lots of other fun things as well.

I think we gave Mitchell a good taste of Omaha this weekend & had lots of fun while doing it!

We got home Monday in time for yet another Doctors appointment for me & Baby. Its always good to get to hear his strong heartbeat & to know that he has been growing big. We are still so anxious to meet this little guy:)

Until Next Time,

In Honor of one of my sisters! (Nicole Dschaak)

Well seeing as I am new to this I have been sitting around waiting for something exciting to happen so that I could make a new post and I think I've got it!

Birthdays have been a really big deal in the Sloop family since I could ever remember because my Grandpa Sloop is the "Birthday King".  He can make any one have an absolutely amazing birthday! Nicole seems to think that her birthday should be some sort of "National Holiday" or something so I will make a post in honor of her today!

Nicole is my second older sister and is about 6 years older than I am. She has always been a great example to me and I have always liked to look up to her for things...but some things in particular....

1. When Nicole and I were younger and sharing a bedroom I used to bother the crap out of her. Every time she had a new "Favorite Color" I would magically have the exact same one. For some reason I felt as though I always needed the same favorite color and now interestingly enough my favorite color happens to be yellow just like hers. (I will admit to copying)

2. Nicole used to always clean our bedroom while listening to the backstreet boys and Nsync and she would blast it while singing along, because of that & how "Cool" I thought she was while doing it....to this day I still blast my Taylor Swift music while singing loudly when I clean.

3. Although you may think that I always copy Nicole...I have also done the opposite. I can clearly recall Nicole hating Peas SO much that she would refuse to eat them at dinner, my parents forced her to eat them one night and she flat out threw them up everywhere over the balcony. Because I wanted to be an annoying little sister I instantly began to love Peas and I would eat them ONLY because I knew she hated them.... & Now thanks to her Peas are my favorite vegetable. So thank you.

4. Nicole has always had a great talent of doing hair. She always had her friends over before school dances so that she could do their hair for them. Because of that I thought I was good at hair too (Genetics right?) ....Wrong. I told my cousin Sam that I could do her hair for her senior prom a few years back just thinking that I would be naturally good at it...fortunately after lots of tears and me re-doing her hair 5 times it turned out to be something presentable and I realized at that point...Nicole really did have a talent, I am just a wannabe.

(She even does my hair!)

5. Now that we are closer to the same point in our lives we have a lot more to talk about together. Nicole has helped me a TON throughout my pregnancy so far and even showed me some stretch marks that I get to look forward too after this little nugget is born. YAY! haha But In all honesty I can only hope that I look as good as Nicole does after 2 children because she is a smokin' mommy if I do say so myself ;)

All in all Nicole has been a best friend and a great person to copy for the last 18 years of my life! I hope she has the best "National Holdiday" of a Birthday today! I love you!

Happy Birthday,
Brooklyn Cook
